Dr. Jeanette MacLean joined Affiliated Children’s Dental Specialists in 2005 and became an owner in 2007. She is a graduate of Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, where she first met Dr. Mandy back in Spanish class! She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Northern Arizona University in 1999. She received her dental degree, with honors from the University of Southern California in 2003 and completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry in 2005 at the Sunrise Children’s Hospital through the University of Nevada School of Medicine.

She has been appointed to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Speakers Bureau and has provided lectures across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, as well as webinars viewed in over 40 countries. Dr. MacLean is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Fellow of the American College of Dentists, Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, and Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Her research has been published in the journals Pediatric Dentistry, the Journal of Clinical Pediatric Dentistry, the British Dental Journal, and Compendium. She has appeared in Phoenix Magazine’s Annual Top Dentists issue as Best of the Valley Pediatric Dentist (by popular vote), and Top Pediatric Dentist (as voted by her peers). She has written articles for multiple dental magazines including Dentaltown, Inside Dentistry, Decisions in Dentistry, and Dimensions of Dental Hygiene. She is on the Dentaltown Editorial Advisory Board, a spokesperson for the Delta Dental of Arizona Foundation, and has a popular YouTube channel on minimally invasive dental procedures. Dr. MacLean was named as one of DentaQuest’s 2020 Health Equity Heroes – Heroes in the Time of COVID-19, for her work providing free continuing education webinars on minimally invasive dentistry to more than 30,000 dental professionals across the globe.

Dr. Mandy Daitch, daughter of our practice founder, Dr. Joel Arthur, is a graduate of Chaparral High School in Scottsdale. In fact, it was back in high school that Dr. Mandy started working for her father in the lab at Affiliated Children’s Dental Specialists. She received her dental degree from the University of Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco in 2001 and joined Affiliated Children’s Dental Specialists upon graduation, she became an owner in 2005.

Her emphasis on “gentle” dentistry brings an additional touch of compassion while providing the best possible care. She is an active member of the Central Arizona Dental Society, the Arizona Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

She is married to Dr. James Daitch, a Urologist practicing in Phoenix, and they have a son, Zachary, and a daughter, Samantha. She speaks Spanish and her interests include yoga, jogging and traveling. She is also active in Local First Arizona and West Valley Women.

Dr. Wil Saavedra made his childhood home in Virginia, and attended Radford (VA) University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology. He went on to achieve his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDS), as well as his Master of Science in Oral Biology, along with a specialty certificate in Orthodontics from the Temple University School of Dentistry.

Dr. Saavedra brings a devotion to new technologies and consistent learning to his work. By remaining on top of technological advancements, he helps maintain E&S Orthodontics as one of the most advanced dental practices. Dr. Saavedra is known for his capability to work with patients using his meticulous attention to detail to achieve the best results possible. When he isn’t working, Dr. Saavedra enjoys spending time working with computers, biking, spending time with his family, and exercising.

Dr. O El-Hillal received his Bachelor’s Degree from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. At Temple University School of Dentistry, he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree, MBA, Master of Science in Oral Biology, and Orthodontic Specialty certification.

Dr. El-Hillal (affectionately called “Dr. O” by his patients) has been published in numerous professional journals. He was Chief Resident and has held several other leadership roles when he was receiving training. He has helped to develop E&S Orthodontics into the West Valley’s leading provider of Damon™ System Braces.

Dr. O is known for his laid-back style and ability to communicate with patients and parents. When he’s not helping patients achieve their dream smiles, he enjoys biking, golfing, spending time with his loving family, hiking, scuba diving, and running.

Dr. Joel Arthur founded Affiliated Children’s Dental Specialists in 1973. Now retired, many of our patient’s parents saw Dr. Arthur when they were kids themselves – we like to call these our “grand-patients.” He is very proud to see his children, Dr. Mandy and Dr. Chad, carry on the practice today. Dr. Arthur is known nationally for his expertise and care of special needs patients. He is enjoying retirement with his wife, Candy.

Geri – OFFICE MANAGER

Geri is our Office Manger and has been with our office practice since 1990, learning so much under the guidance of our founder, Dr. Joel Arthur. She has been in the dental field since she was 16 years old when she started as a part-time afterschool continuing care receptionist. Anyone that knows her knows that she has a passion for dentistry and helping others. In her free time Geri loves to spend time with her 2 children, family and friends, volunteering at church and loving on her precious puppy Angel.

Karen – DENTAL HYGIENIST

Karen is our Dental Hygienist and has been with our practice since 1998. She is an essential part of our practice; playing roles as not only our amazing hygienist but also coordinates our back office staff to make sure that our patients are all very well taken care of. Karen has been in the dental field for well over 30 years, first as a dental assistant and then returning to school to obtain her Dental Hygiene Degree. Karen is married, with 2 grown children and is a proud grandmother to 2 little cuties. In her free time Karen loves to travel, especially when it involves relaxing on a beach somewhere.

Brenda – ADMINISTRATOR

Brenda joined our practice in 2000 as our Administrator. It was her first experience to the dental field but she quickly realized that the dental community is an amazing place to work in. She is originally from Wisconsin but has lived in Arizona for over 20 years. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, traveling, skiing, movies and spending time with family and friends.

Andrea – TREATMENT COORDINATOR/DENTAL ASSISTANT

Andrea has been has welcoming our new patients to our practice since 1999. You may also see her at your child’s routine dental check-ups, as she is also a vital member of our dental assisting team. Andrea is a proud mother of three children. In her spare time she loves hanging out with her family and friends and going to movies and eating out at restaurants. Andrea has also started back to school in the hopes of obtaining her Bachelors of Science Degree in the near future.

Stacy K. – DENTAL ASSISTANT

Stacy K has been in the dental field for over 30 years and joined our practice in 2002. She shows her love for dentistry and children every day as a key member of our dental assisting team. She has three children and three step-children. In her spare time she loves listening to all kinds of music, except crazy rap music, and traveling with her husband. Most summer weekends you will find her up in Munds Park, escaping the heat of the Valley, with her husband and mother.

Ann-Marie – FRONT OFFICE

Ann-Marie was a previous patient of our practice when she was a small child and in 2002 she became an official member of our team. She quickly became a key member of our front office and a familiar face to our parents. She has been married for over 32 years and is the proud mom of three adult children. Her heart belongs to her two adorable grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and going on cruises with her husband. You might also find her anywhere near an ocean, even snorkeling at times.

Jennifer – FRONT OFFICE / DENTAL ASSISTANT

Jennifer joined our practice in 2003 as a key team member of Front Office staff. She has over 21 years experience in the dental field. Before coming to our practice she had also worked as a dental assistant and this has been invaluable to our practice, filling in when needed in the back office. She is married with two children. In her spare time she enjoys singing and watching Shark Week.

Cindy – DENTAL ASSISTANT

Cindy has worked in the dental field for over 40 years, in Orthodontics, General, and Pediatrics. She started at Dr. Arthur’s former Scottsdale location in 2006, then joined our practice in 2016. She enjoys working with children, making them laugh and have fun while at their dental visit. Cindy has two adult sons and two granddaughters that she loves spending time with them as much as she can. She enjoys staying active in her community playing water volleyball, bocce ball, getting together with friends, watching Hallmark movies, and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies.

Veronica – DENTAL ASSISTANT

Veronica has worked in the dental field for nearly 30 years. She joined our practice in 2019. She loves working with children and is a key member of our dental team, helping with ordering and spoiling us with her party planning and cooking talents. She has been married for over 30 years, has 3 children, 5 wonderful grandchildren, 3 chihuahuas, and a cat. In her spare time, she is a party planner and loves to cook.

Lola – DENTAL ASSISTANT

Lola has worked in the dental field for over 16 years in both general and pediatrics. She is newly engaged and has two wonderful step children. In her spare time, she enjoys golfing, reading novels, and spending time with her family.

We strongly believe that children do their best in new situations using the show, tell and do technique. This allows dentistry to be performed in a non-threatening environment and allows children to have better self-esteem and a positive experience.

To be most effective, children’s dentistry needs to be preventative in nature, since these procedures are less invasive to the teeth and gums, and are accomplished more easily. We stress proper brushing, home care, and diet, along with involving parents with diagnosis and treatment.
